Film

Michele Reilly is the creator, lead writer, and actress in Steeplechase, a short Sci-Fi film series about various physical anomalies and paradoxes in physics. Many people do not know that time travel is technically not ruled out by Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity. Here is a short behind-the-scenes teaser on IMDb. In 2022, Steeplechase won several awards for Best Film (Science Fiction), including honors at Cannes 2022. “Stag Hunt,” the next episode, will be publicly available on YouTube in 2024.

MIT

At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Reilly teaches quantum physics and cosmology for science fiction in the Writing/Comparative Media Studies and Quantum Mech Engineering Depts. Her students write as authors for the science fiction series, along with other art & science creative episodes, in collaboration with MIT’s Center for Arts, Science & Technology (CAST).

Performance as Dissent

Reilly publishes works of Critical Theory in “Hymns of Dissent” that she performs as poetry or has executed as performance.

Dec 2001, Michele Reilly. Performance art and sculpture installation in 2001 on Perry Street, West Side Highway, NYC, NY.

Movable home as a glass and steel vitrine echoing a module of the Richard Meyer buildings that this project sat outside of. This was built over a decade before Tilda Swinton did her live performance. Thank you to Daniel Asham, who helped with its installation, a then Cooper Union classmate.

In Culture

Rechnender Raum is an art gallery space in DUMBO, New York City, run by Reilly over 2021-22; its mandate was to reorient social & intellectual discourse with pioneers in various specializations.
